Stormy Skies
We’ve been having storms almost every day now for a week. Some have been pretty violent with high winds, hail, and heavy rains. We’ve been fortunate – only some field corn damage that we are hoping it will come out of.
On the up side, all the storms make for some pretty impressive skies. This is the pond up the road from our house. Spooky.
And look how dark skies look as a backdrop for the wheat.
And the clouds create some lovely sunsets.
Hope you’re not having any violent weather where you are.

Beautiful skies. I grew up in Kansas, but now live in Colorado. We were back to visit my husband’s parents a couple of weeks ago. I had forgotten the colorful sunsets.
Hi Sylvie,
My sister lives in Co. You have some beautiful sunsets there too.
Thanks for visiting,
Suzanne
There truely is beauty in all that power. Sometimes though, it is more beauty than I can stand and I hide in the basement. 🙂 Then, I look for the rainbow after the storm.
Hi Gardener,
Me too, it scares me. I used to live in a trailer years ago, so I’m especially edgy.
Suzanne.
No, not violent. Just hotter than hades. Your pictures are just beautiful. My favorite is the silhouette of the wheat. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Vivian,
You’re most welcome. Hope cooler weather heads your way soon.
Take care,
Suzanne
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. We’ve been lucky here to miss most of the violent weather, but we’ve had more rain than we need.
Hello Teresa,
We’ve had more rain than we need also, but I don’t complain. The alternative is drought, and I hate that.
Thanks for visiting,
Suzanne
Are you following me around? I posted some very similar pics the other day. LOL. Yes, the skies have been CRAZY!
Hi Lana,
You must be getting the same weather we are. Rain RAin, and more rain, but neat clouds and sunsets.
Thanks for visiting,
Suzanne
Love your focus points and the stormy skies….I’m oh SO jealous! I saw your link from the Pioneer Woman and thought i’d come say hi and check out your blog. 🙂 Loved the posts from your kitty (wink). 🙂
Hi Cindy,
Thank you for dropping by- glad to have you.
Thank you,
Suzanne
ooohhhhh, i love to look at dark, stormy skies. there is just something so interesting and beautiful, but at the same time ominous and scary!
Hi Bonnie,
Last week, we watched a storm that was trying to make a tornado. It had the wall cloud and rotation, but it never did get the momentum. Was really neat to watch though.
Thank you,
Suzanne
I live just over in Nebraska, but I had to tell you how much I love your pictures. I think Kansas is so beautiful 🙂
Hello Erica,
Thanks for dropping by. Since we only live a few miles from the border, we get up to Nebraska often. We spent a wonderful day in Omaha a while back, and I did a post about it then. Come check it out. http://windowontheprairie.com/?s=omaha
Take care,
Suzanne
I do not get to see the sky’s like that anymore, I live in Illinois and town moved out to me and built all around me now, do not care for it but nothing I can do, so we take what they call day rides and go out to the farm country and enjoy it.
Hi Aletha,
Sorry that your horizon has been filled, but glad you can get out into the country to see it again.
