Tadpole Tuesday (2nd episode)

It’s been about a week since we last checked in with the tadpole (see episode 1 here), and while our back was turned, she sprouted feet.

Take a look at these itty bitty toes:

And she’s grown in size too. Last week she was about 3/8 inch long from mouth to tail tip. This week she’s about an inch long.

Now that she has feet, she’d been thinking about summer sandals.

And nail polish too.  Kids just grow up too fast these days.

Come back next Tuesday for an update.

She’s growing so fast now. I was looking at her last night and her legs are getting really developed and she’s been kicking with them here in the last couple days.

Cute. I really think a sling back pump would look good for those summer toes!!

This is awesome We have a little frog who has turned into a great big frog living in our back yard. We’ve watched this frog grow for the last four or so years. Surprised each spring when he/she shows up after the long winter. This spring our frog had a bit of an accident. My dear spouse was out weed wacking along the back fence…all of sudden the weed wacker fell silent. Spouse came in, in tears, saying “I think I killed our frog.” To which I replied:
“How”….and Spouse said, ” I accidently hit it with the weed wacker line. It was hiding in the grass along the fence and there’s blood everwhere.” Went out and looked, sure enough we had a wounded frog. Spouse rinsed the frog’s wound off with some clean water and we realized it was just a superficial wound that bled a lot. The frog looked totally ticked…It stayed in the grass there for several days then disappeared. Until last friday evening. We were out in the back yard. Spouse turned around. All of a sudden our frog was there was a nicely healed scar on it’s little back. We will be more careful when we weed wack from now on. Also…I have squash in my front flower bed and we found a tiny wee frog that is maybe a couple of inches long. We have another place we will have to watch when we are out with the wacker. I don’t want to be responsible for any frogicides 🙂 I will be back for next Tuesday’s installment

Oh dear, I’m so glad your little frog is ok. That must have been so scary for you hubby, and probably wasn’t a good day for the frog either. :O

  4. Mary says:

I wonder what kind of frog it will be? Will you turn it loose in your garden to eat bugs?

    • Suzanne says:

I’ll probably return her to the area around the pond where I got her. Otherwise I’d worry about her getting eaten by the lawnmower.

How cute is that? This is fun.

My 17 year old daughter just came in asking for a flashlight. She was watering my tomatoes and stepped on yet another frog. Going to go see if the stepped on frog is still with us…

I have no idea what is causing our weird frog karma…but it needs to stop! I need my frogs. They keep the bug population down.

I hope your frog stays safe from marauding weed wackers and kid’s feet…

Frog up date….Frog is fine. He or she has been moved to the squash/pumpkin patch. Hopefully he or she will make his/her home there and stay out of the way of human feet.
