Prairie Sunset

After a super hot day on the prairie, we look forward to the sunset.

Harland and I get our cameras out hoping for a good one with lots of color.

Harland moves from place to place looking for the perfect foreground.

Gradually the air cools as the sun slips lower.

The cattle, who have spent the heat of the day standing in the shade or bathing in a pond, come out to graze.

The sun drops behind some hazy clouds as an irrigation rig waters a cornfield.

Birds cease their prairie songs. Breezes grow cooler.  The prairie breathes a sigh of relief as the sun slips away.

Goodbye to another summer day.

Welcome summer evening.

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

Beautiful pictures. Great posts for many posts now. you just get better and b etter. we are sweltering here in Texas with no end in sight. Our lows are in the upper 80’s. I enjoy Eden Hills too. I see she left a post. Thanks for all your hard work. I can tell you enjoy it. Keep cool.

The roadside grass is green. You’ve definately gotten more water than the panhandle of Texas. The brown, dusty areas are increasing daily. We are expecting a cool front, 90’s, for the next few days, hooray!

I feel so bad and a little guilty for receiving rain when so many are going without this summer. Thinking about you and hoping for better weather for you soon.
