This past weekend, Harland and I visited the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve about 2 1/2 south of where we live. We hadn’t been back there since last spring when we visited the bison. Unfortunately, we didn’t see them this trip. But seeing the yellow, orange and red of the grasses, sunset on the wide open prairie, and listening to the coyotes howl to each other in the twilight, more than made up for it.
It’s hard for us to get away during harvest, but we fit in this short trip to one of our favorite places in Kansas.
