Kitty’s Visit To The Vet

It’s Kitty’s favorite time of the year again:  Her annual visit to the veterinarian!

“No really, I feel fine, we can go back home now.”

Kitty always presses her nose against the carrier as we drive down the road. I try to console her, but she continues to squish her nose until it turns pink.

When we got to the vet’s office, I placed her carrier on the table and opened the door. She refused to come out, so I reach in to pull her out. She grabbed for the doorway of the carrier like a kid on his first day of school.

Dr. John asked me to put her on the scale. She weighed in at 9 pounds. Dr. John consulted her chart.

“She’s gained a pound. We shouldn’t let that continue.”  Oh dear, I thought. But Kitty does so love her tidbits of meat and nightcap of milk. Well, we’ll just have to cut back.

I put Kitty back on the metal examination table where Dr. John got a firm grip on her and proceeded to examine her eyes,

throat and glands,

and tummy.

“No, really, I feel fine. Can we go home now??”

Two years ago, Kitty gave Dr. John a nasty cut on his finger which bled rather badly so he’s not taking any chances this time. He makes sure to hold onto Kitty firmly, but gently.

But Kitty behaves herself this time. She never moves or makes a peep as she gets her shots.

I was soooo proud of her. All done and no bloodletting this time.

She gratefully got back into her carrier for the trip home. Once there, I opened the door to let her out and she moved so fast all I caught was a blur.

I’m so happy that Kitty got a good check-up and her annual shots.

But I was especially pleased that she was such a good girl.

Oh! Poor Kitty! I have four cats and two dogs. Going to the vet is always an adventure. Glad she is doing well and that no one got hurt this year.

    Happy Post Thanksgiving!

9 pounds! My cat was 18 pounds (and all healthy, believe it or not). 9 is so little!

Sounds like Kitty likes her visit to the vet about as much as Simon, my Bichon dog. He starts panting and shaking the minute I make the turn onto the vet’s street. Somehow he knows………..

Happy to hear all is well with Kitty. She’s a pretty cat!

    Trips to the vet…….yipes! LOL!

I swear my cats just somehow KNOW I will be looking for them, and make themselves scarce. Even if I haven’t brought the carrier in from the garage!

My cats yowl the whole time we are in the car, then won’t come out of the carrier except for gravity assist!

I did have a cat who bit the vet tech years ago. I was so embarassed!

Poor Kitty! Everycat has to go through those days!

Don’t worry Kitty, I close my eyes to when I get shots!

Aw, poor kitty. My kitty went to the vet recently too. Except she cries all the way there and sweats from her paws. But she’s never taken a swipe at anyone.

I noticed your vet is giving kitty shots in the scruff. If he’d be willing to, it might be worth it to ask him to give her shots in the paw. It’s not a huge risk, but cats can develop tumors as a reaction to vaccine and if they develop them in the neck it puts pressure on the spine which can cause them some serious problems.

Just a thought though. My vet is “new school” from what I understand and she was really worried about it when I commented on her foot shots (my other vet did scruff too) and told me why she did it that way.

Good Kitty! No matter that I warn the vet, out 12 yr. old cat always manages to bite. I go prepared with gauntlets.

  8. Aw, 3 shots!! She does look so brave there!!

Maybe in the evening Kitty should have skim milk! She’s such a beautiful cat and I love seeing posts about her 🙂
