A Day In The Life Of Kitty

Kitty leads such a busy and varied life as a cat. Here’s a typical day for her:

8 AM:  Kitty’s automatic feeder went off at 5am, so she’s already had her breakfast. At 8am, she’s back in bed with us. She’s very snuggly and purr’y this time of day.

~~~~~~~~
8:16 AM:  Kitty stares out the bathroom window at the birds in the trees.  She’s an avid birdwatcher.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

8:55 AM:   More birdwatching, this time from our bed. She’s hunkered down so they can’t see her. (she thinks so anyway)

~~~~~~~
9:36 AM :   Exhaustion has taken over and Kitty retreats to the office to sleep in Harland’s chair. We leave her there and head off to Topeka to do some shopping.
~~~~~~~

2:56 PM :   We’re back from Topeka and Kitty greets us at the door to receive a little petting.

~~~~~~~
3:04 PM :   We bought a water softener in Topeka, and while we’re trying to figure out the best place to put it, Kitty takes this opportunity to peek down the stairs. Ours is an older home with a not so rodent proof limestone foundation. Mousebait is available to the visitors down there, so Kitty is strictly forbidden. But it’s also a dark place with lots of hidey holes and interesting smells to Kitty, and she’s so curious about it.
~~~~~~~~~

3:14 PM :  While I’m unloading some stuff from our shopping trip, Kitty watches at the window, clearly bored by the goings on.

~~~~~~~~~
3:59 PM : Kitty settles down for another well-deserved nap.
~~~~~~~~

4:36 PM :  Kitty is up from her nap and waiting by the vent for the heat to come on.  Kitty thinks that we, “the humans”, are so inconsiderate in not setting the thermostat at 95 degrees.

~~~~~~~~~
4:54 PM :  I’m in the kitchen making chicken pot pie for supper. Kitty begs for and receives a pea to eat. She loves peas.
~~~~~~~~~~

4:59 PM :  Kitty can’t believe her eyes at the sight of so much mouth-watering chicken, another of her favorites.

~~~~~~~~~~
5:04 PM : Kitty’s patience is rewarded when she receives a tidbit of chicken.
~~~~~~~~~~

5:28 PM :  Harland is in from the evening chores and greets Kitty with a “big ‘ole hug”.  Kitty so enjoys hugs, NOT. We’ve told her it’s all her fault that we have to give her hugs. If she wasn’t so soft, warm, and loveable this wouldn’t happen.

~~~~~~~~~
6:10 PM :  Exhausted yet again, Kitty takes a nap in my office chair while Harland does some work on the computer.
~~~~~~~~~~

6:34 PM : Kitty is back up again and waiting under the endtable in the living room for a human/hapless victim to pass by so she can jump out at them and scare the life out of them – one of her favorite evil things to do.

~~~~~~~~~~
6:34 PM :  Supper is out of the oven and on the table. Kitty stretches her full length to reach the table top, her way to let me know what a good girl she is and sooooo deserving of a share of dinner.
~~~~~~~~~~

6:45 PM :  Kitty waits patiently hoping for a tidbit, or two.  I gave her a couple bites of chicken.  I never eat a meal alone, whether Harland is home or not.

~~~~~~~~~
7:26 PM :  Kitty takes another well-deserved nap, this time on top of the fax machine. She likes to nap here when Harland is working on the computer.
~~~~~~~~

8:36 PM : Kitty graciously bestows a kiss on one of her subjects Harland.

~~~~~~~~~
9:42 PM :  It’s so tiring to be a cat. Kitty naps again in my office chair.
~~~~~~~~~

10:09 PM :  Kitty joins us in bed, and attacks Harland’s wiggling toes through the covers.

~~~~~~~~~
And so ends another busy day for Kitty.  She’ll spend the night alternatively staring 0ut the window at the barn cats or sleeping with us.  Tomorrow is another day and she needs her beauty rest.
~~~~~~~~~~~

PS:  Kitty asks that I let you know that she has a calendar for sale.  Here’s the link:  KITTY’S CALENDAR

    Love it! Aren’t cats great? Ours has finally started sleeping on our bed again. We moved 1 1/2 years ago and up until this past March, when we moved into our current house, she was not the sweet cat we knew. After we moved to this house, she almost immediately became her old self again, except for the sleeping on our bed. In the last couple weeks, she’s started that again. I love it–nothing like a warm, purring cat for comfort. 🙂

    Poor Kitty so busy and hard working. But, I think my Sammy Cat has her beat – he’s alot more busy now that its getting cold outside. He really can’t handle cold. Love your Kitty – she’s so so pretty and her expressions are sooo cute. Great post.

    Excellent kitty tale! I once saw a hilarious cartoon of cats in therapy for being unable to sleep more than 23 hours a day.

  12. Well, there is so much that I love about this post I don’t know where to begin!
    1)the fact that she has an automatic feeder that goes off at 5 am! LOL
    2)how she hunkers down to prevent from being seen by birdies
    3)your pantry shelves at the top of your stairs! awesome!!
    4)kitty at the top of the basement steps wishing so much that she could be explore down there.
    5)her sweet little paw right next to the pea!
    6)the look of “ugh!” on her face while Harland hugs her
    7)the fact that she hides under things patiently waiting for her next victim so she can jump out and scare them…this one is my favorite thing of all!!
    Great post! It made me smile!
