Thanks for sharing these truly wonderful photos with us. I intend to get out my map and look up this location and do a little armchair travel today. The Santa Fe Trail always has such a romantic vibe for me. As a young girl I always loved stories of pioneer days. Blue Willow and Carrie Woodlawn come to mind here. You and Harland lead an enchanted lifestyle from my vantage point. Keep it up in good health.
Anywho, we once visited Council Grove, KS and saw trail ruts there much to the amusement of my new son-in-law who was acting as “tour driver” that day! I loved the experience of it and we were treated to our first glimpse of prairie burning, too! As a matter of fact we saw the fire jump across the roadway right in front of us. Now THAT he liked!
