A Few Odds and Ends

Today, a few pics of the cows and their calves that I took a while back:

Grazing is more fun with a buddy. Did you know cows have friends they hang out with?

I was walking along the fencerow and startled this calf who ran away from me. Check out those back legs and feet. They can kick and if they make contact with you, they can leave a mark. Those little hooves strike like lightning and you won’t see it coming.

A little group of calves hanging out:

Here, the cow on the left is washing her baby, while the cow on the right is doing that head nuzzling thing with her baby. So cute! It’s a hug between mama and baby.

Did you know cows will clean each other? Here, the cow on the right cleans a dirty spot on her neighbor.

Ahhhh…..   It feels good to do a little stretching after a nap.

Less than 24 hours old, this little calf enjoys a gallop….

much to the chagrin of his mother who trots along behind trying to keep up.

Later we settle down for a little rest. Calves spend most of their first couple days resting.
