At The Pasture

Recently we went to the summer pasture to check on the cows.

Look how much nicer the grass looks this year:

Here’s a pic taken from the same spot about a year ago during the worst of the drought:

Rain is a wonderful thing.

Buried up to their tummies in green grass, the cows are fat and sleek.

Here’s one of the bulls. Turned out with the cows about a week ago, he’s in seventh heaven.

The calves are now eating grass and putting on weight:

They’re still nursing and will continue until fall, but eating grass is really what will fill them out and make them grow.

We’ll check on the cattle once a week through the summer, but they have all they need and are quite happy to be away from us, the pesky humans.
