Prairie Moonrise
I looked out our kitchen window one evening last week to behold this sight.
It was our old friend the full moon, sneaking up over the pasture.
As it rose higher into the velvet sky,
a hush descended over the prairie.

I believe that must have been the evening before I saw the moon in the west the following morning. It was HUGE and so bright against the early morning sky. I had wondered if you had seen it too and gotten pictures. You did, only out of the east when it rose.
Hi Glenda,
Wasn’t it a perfect moon last week? Glad you enjoyed it as well.
Beautiful. I love the fence…all of the wire at different widths from each other. Looks like the same fences we have.
Loved your post about the cattle sale. Looks just like our salebarn with some of the same characters.
Hi Saska,
Thank you! I wonder if all the same characters go from one sale to another. 🙂
How absolutely stunning!! Just last week my hubby asked if we ever got to see moonrises? I said no, we have too many buildings in the way to be able to see one. Now I can share your wonderful pictures with him.
Hi Lisa,
Glad to share our moonrise with you.
These photos nearly bring tears to my eyes. How serene and lovely and solitary. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Oh Thank you Kit! You’re welcome.
Beautiful!
Great photos. Also looking forward to the Hermits recipes.
Thanks! Very pretty!
Looking forward to the hermit cookie recipe. My mom used to make them. They were a favorite of my grandpa (born in 1889).
Awesome. I tried taking pictures of the moon but all I got was a bright circle…will have to work on that.
Hi Joani,
I had my ISO set at 800 and set the camera on a fence post to control blur. Hope this helps.
I love the stunning colors in these, and of course, the beautifully clear moon. Fantastic captures!
I was hoping you’d post these. Awesome as always!
You are such a gifted photographer. 🙂
Oh Thank you Justina. I love the photos on your site as well.
Those photos are true works of art. All are worthy of framing.
I am looking forward to the cookie recipe. I just made peanut butter cookies, another oldie but goodie!
Oh Thank you Glenda! I posted the Hermits recipe this morn. I’ve been thinking about peanut butter cookies lately and will have to make some this weekend.

Beautiful pictures. I’m never disappointed in the beauty of the moon on the horizon.
Hi Teresa,
Me neither, and I don’t take time often enough to really look at it and appreciate the moment.
