Prairie Moonrise

I looked out our kitchen window one evening last week to behold this sight.

It was our old friend the full moon, sneaking up over the pasture.

As it rose higher into the velvet sky,

a hush descended over the prairie.

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

I believe that must have been the evening before I saw the moon in the west the following morning. It was HUGE and so bright against the early morning sky. I had wondered if you had seen it too and gotten pictures. You did, only out of the east when it rose.

Beautiful. I love the fence…all of the wire at different widths from each other. Looks like the same fences we have.

Loved your post about the cattle sale. Looks just like our salebarn with some of the same characters.

  3. How absolutely stunning!! Just last week my hubby asked if we ever got to see moonrises? I said no, we have too many buildings in the way to be able to see one. Now I can share your wonderful pictures with him.

Looking forward to the hermit cookie recipe. My mom used to make them. They were a favorite of my grandpa (born in 1889).

Awesome. I tried taking pictures of the moon but all I got was a bright circle…will have to work on that.

  9. I love the stunning colors in these, and of course, the beautifully clear moon. Fantastic captures!
