I enjoyed your video, Suzanne! My poor old dad had a combine that was open, talk about a face full of dust, of course that was a long time ago! It is so much fun to ride along with you, thanks! Have a great weekend too!
Yep thats one sweet machine compared to what my Dad had some 57 yrs.ago. The combine was pulled behind the John Deere tractor and
did not hold anywhere as much grain. I. the teenage daughter, was in charge of driving the little red Farmall tractor w/a trailor behind to pick up the grain, then when that was full I drove it to the wheat bin shed and emptied. No stereo or air conditioners heard of back then or even the covered seat area. Talk about dust and sun burn.! But when I think back to that I still think of it fondly.
awesome! also, your photos are beautiful! I love the sunset too!
Thanks for showing this. Brings back childhood memories. Such a dirty job! Had to bring in water from the cistern for baths. Heated it on the stove and three men all took baths in one bathtub, same water. Black as night it was when all were washed. 😀 Late suppers of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and peas all of which was killed and picked that day. Bread baking, pie and cake making with grandma, sweet lemonade and sandwiches to take to the harvesters in the massive heat of the day. Jumping into the hot grain in the grain bins and itching like crazy. 😀 Memories I’ll have all my life and I cherish every one. 🙂
Good honest work…real. Thanks for your memories Elizabeth!
