New Siding Project – Part 6 – CONCRETE POUR DAY!
8-23-13
8:45am: TODAY’S THE DAY!! This morning, Harland’s brother Gerald and his wife Ramona are coming over to help with the pouring of the patio and sidewalk.
Here’s what the patio and sidewalk areas look like this morning.
Harland put more re-bar in the patio area since my last pic. He also repaired and covered the area where the old basement stairwell was. Water had leaked in behind and rotted the siding and studs. So yesterday he cut out the siding,
repaired the studs,
and covered the area with plywood.
Then he put up a piece of metal flashing.
This morning, he’s turned the hose on the patio and sidewalk areas soaking them down in preparation for the concrete.
Since I’m not home, Harland will be taking pics of their progress throughout the day and sending them to me.
I’ll be UPDATING THIS POST ALL DAY LONG, so check back often!
I’m so excited!!!

UPDATE:
12:40pm:
Just received a few pics from Harland:
Pouring the patio:
That’s my sister in law, Ramona wielding the shovel.
Here’s a pic of Gerald, my brother in law, finishing the patio.
Patio = done!
Sidewalk = done!
Note the sidewalk supervisor in the window to the left of the door. Everything has a Kitty seal of approval.
There was some leftover concrete on the truck, so Harland had them pour it at the garden shed entrance, which before was just gravel, but now is paved! Yay!

I just love home improvement projects. Good work everyone!
We’re excited for you!
Awesome! What’s next?
Let the concrete cure for a few while. Take off the forms. Move some dirt out of the yard to create better drainage as it slopes toward the house. Do the main project: Siding!
Very nice! Ramona is great getting right in there. You will really enjoy your new patio too.
I’m coming over for a barbeque – I’ll bring your honey wheat bread! 🙂
Look @ that Romana…!!
Good job everyone…!
Looks so nice now….will look FANTASTIC later!
Lovely and professional, only you should leave your handprint in wet cement with the year it was poured. How will future generations know who came before and when? Hope little critters don’t run around and leave paw or hoof prints, on the other hand that might be cute! Good job, I hope you enjoy your new patio for many happy years together.
Looks great. Super work by all involved. Looking forward to seeing how it shapes up for the summer next.
Harland did a lot of work, and it all looks great. Are you planning to remove or update the handrail?
