Another Newborn Calf

The calves are coming regularly now, at least one a day all last week. This one was born on March 14. He was about an hour old here. His mama had cleaned him up well, but he was still wet.

He’s ok though. He’ll air dry, and then he’ll be all fluffy and soft.

In the first hour after they’re born, they breathe their first breath, stand up and walk for the first time, find their mama’s udder, and nurse for the first time. Pretty remarkable.

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.
