The Soybeans Are Up

I should name this post, “The Soybeans Came Up Ages Ago, But I’ve Been Too Much Of A Slacker To Do A Post About Them”.

Several weeks ago, I did a post about planting soybeans. You may see it here.  They came up about a week later, but unfortunately, with so much to do this time of year, I haven’t had a chance to show you how they are doing.  They came up well, and are doing great as we’ve been getting enough rain and sun to make them happy.

Later in the summer, they will bloom, and then set on little bean pods.

I’ll do more posts later to update you and what they are up to.

I promise.

Suzanne

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

  1. Wow! Those are looking good- what will you do with them?

      Hi Farm Chick Paula,
In the fall, we will harvest them when they are dryed down. We will either store them for a while in grain bins, or sell them at the local grain elevator. They’ll go on to be used in soybean oil, processed foods, soybean meal which is fed to livestock, infant formula, industrial products such as soap, plastics, and clothing, foods such as soy milk and tofu, etc.
      Thanks for dropping by,
      Suzanne
